Grade 1
Instructor: Mrs. Breckner
First grade is a very crucial part of your child's educational experience.  We are really focusing on reading, writing, and math.  Your child will begin to blossom with new words, ideas, and books that they would love to share with you.  Please remember what you do at home to support the classroom is very critical as well.  Homework must be done to reinforce the reading and math skills we are working on each and every day! Please read the books with your child and sign them to let us know you heard them read.  If they struggle with a story write that on the book as well.  We do read with them but its also nice to know how your child sounds to you.  Remember to call, email or stop by before or after school if you have any questions or concerns.  My door is always open.  Thank you for letting me work with your children.  I love watching them grow and develop each and every day!

Spelling Tests!!!
Please remember to practice the spelling words daily with your child.  We practice them at school but to reinforce the skill I would love to see you practicing at home too! Find fun ways to practice the words together.  Sidewalk chalk has been a huge hit with my own first grader at home.  Markers, whiteboards, chalk, sticky notes, clay, and shaving cream are all wonderful ideas.  If you  have a way that works for you please share!! Your child is responsible for all 115 word wall words by the end of this year!! Thanks for helping!
